Why use a personal journal?

In order to verbalize something, to be able to articulate it, we need the left hemisphere of the brain, where the language centers are located.

This is also the pathway of positive emotions, meaning that by filtering emotional experiences and describing them through language, much of the negativity that the emotion may contain is removed.

For this reason, people who express their emotions in a personal journal tend to manage their emotional balance much better, increase longevity, and reduce the likelihood of suffering from illnesses.
